Tanna Barker is a world champion barrel racer. But her personal life has been less of a success, and she’s feeling adrift. After her mother’s unexpected death, her father has remarried, and sold the Texas ranch she called home. Now a rodeo injury has left the restless spitfire holed up in Muddy Gap, unsure what her next move should be.

Until she meets her match in a wild, wild cowboy

Veterinarian August Fletcher has always put his job first. He’s never found a woman who could handle his on-the-road lifestyle. But when sassy, sexy Tanna blows into town, he finally finds the woman of his fantasies. And there’s something between them, but she claims she’s been burned by love ’em and leave ’em road dogs before. How can Fletch prove that he’s in it for the long haul, and that their sizzling relationship is better than winning any rodeo medal? It’ll take some sweet persuasion to convince Tanna that Muddy Gap is where she belongs.

Talk about a steamy hot romance set in Wyoming. Just what I needed to read on a hot summer day!

Tanna is one of those female characters that I just love to read about. She is strong yet still very female. She tries to hide how scared she is but those who know her best can see her pain. I think she is one of my favorite characters that I have read this year.

One thing I loved about the plot is that the romance felt real. It wasn’t love at first sight and bam they are in bed together. No they took their time to get to know each other before anything happened. I really enjoyed savoring the way their relationship grew. The issues they face also felt real and made their lives look more dimensional.

Turn and Burn is #5 of the Blacktop Cowboys series. It can be read as a standalone, I know this for a fact because I have not read the first four books in this series and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The only problem I have is that now I must go back and read those first four books!

(This book was received as an ARC from the author/publisher in exchanged for an honest review.)
