On Tour with Prism Book Tours
Sometimes we’re placed in the strangest of circumstances for the most important reasons.
After her carefully constructed life crumbles, Liz Carlisle finds herself back on Nantucket, picking up the pieces. With the family estate under renovations, the solitude she craves seems out of reach.
Matthew Stone intends to steer clear of his new tenant. She’s carrying a load of baggage, but as long as she pays the rent, he’ll let her be. He’s got enough to deal with caring for his wayward niece, Mia.
Liz doesn’t have time for teenagers and her track record with men is abysmal, but an unlikely friendship forms between the three.
When her former boyfriend is charged with assault, Liz is called to testify against him. But he knows the darkest secrets of her life—secrets she’d hoped to keep buried forever, and he’s ready to reveal them. Telling the truth is the right thing to do, but it may cost her everything she’s worked so hard for, and all she’s come to love.
Fun Facts About Catherine West
I thought it might be fun to share a little about me, since some of you might not know me and my books! I also asked readers what they’d like to know, and here are some of the questions they sent me!
I was born and raised in Bermuda (yes, I’m lucky, and yes, I hear that a lot J).
My birth month is October, and I’m turning 54. I don’t believe in getting old.
I married the guy I met when I was 16, and we celebrated 34 years of marriage this summer.
We have two adult children, both married, and two grandchildren. I have to say that grand-parenting IS the very best stage of life!
I was raised as an only child, but as I was adopted, I searched and found birth family when I was in my 30’s (and wrote a book loosely based on that journey, Hidden in the Heart), and found a half-sister who is pretty much my twin, even though she’s six years older than me. We have a wonderful relationship and it’s hard to imagine life without her now!
Dogs or Cats?
Definitely dogs! We have an 11 year-old border collie who still thinks he’s a pup. Noah is often referred to as my third child.
Paperback or e-books?
As an author of course I have to say paperback, but unfortunately, due to eye issues, I do all my reading on my Ipad. I admit, the convenience of buying books without leaving the house is nice. J
What’s on my nightstand?
Since we’re talking books … some recent books I’ve enjoyed over the last few months – Next year in Havana, Chanel Cleeton, Glory Road, Lauren Denton, All Manner of Things, Susie Finkbiener and You Were Always Mine, Nicole Baart. In the non-fiction arena – Searching for Sunday, Rachel Held Evens, Letters to the Church, Francis Chan, and When Breath Becomes Air, Paul Kalanithi.
Morning Person or Night Owl?
I used to be a night owl, but now I need to be in bed early or I’m horrid the next day. And I have never been a morning person!
Coffee or Tea?
I love both! Coffee in the morning, but thanks to my British upbringing, I love a cuppa at 4pm!
What inspired you to become a writer?
I always loved writing stories. I have been writing novels since I was 13. I don’t even think that first one had a title, and it was pretty awful! And I was raised by two bookworms, so I had a voracious appetite for books from a very young age. When I was 14, I read Gone with the Wind, and loved it so much, I really think that book awoke the novelist inside me!
What’s next for you?
Well, that’s a great question! I’m working on a story that is set in Bermuda, but that’s about all I can say about it. It’s undergoing renovations, let’s say. J I do know it’s going to be a big project, and when we’re finally finished, my agent will be shopping it to general market editors. So wish me luck there!
