My Favorite Bible Journaling Supplies–Part 1

If you are like me then you got a few gift cards from friends and family. I actually love gift cards but I have this need to spend them as soon as I can. So I thought that for the next few days I would give you some ideas of different Bible Journaling supplies that I have used this past year that I feel are must haves (at least they are for me).

All links will take you to I have to admit – I am a prime member and I purchase at least 95% of my supplies from them. Some of my Bible (and coloring books) I have bought from

I want to start with what I think the most important supply everyone needs (whether or not they Bible Journal) and that is a Bible.

This is the Bible I use:

Beautiful Word Coloring Bible

I am not sure why I first picked up this Bible but is is the one I have worked in this past year. I am enjoying the illustrations and love creating little bits of art with them when I am journaling. This coming year I should completely finish reading through and journaling in this Bible. For those of you that like a larger print Bible they have one of these:

Beautiful Word Coloring Bible, Large Print, Imitation Leather

The same as the one I am using only larger words and illustrations. I actually wish they had come out with this one first because I would have use it instead. I love this cover!

Now here are some Bibles that my Hubby and kids gave me. I am trying to decide which one to start using later this year:

Inspire PRAISE Bible NLT

The Promises of God Creative Journaling Bible

The Personal Reflections KJV Bible

KJV My Promise Bible, Silky Butterfly

Question: What Bible are you using or planning on using? Is there a Bible you recommend?

Earlier this year I talked about what I used to prep my Bible pages and why. If you want to learn more about Gesso you can check it out HERE.

Now I love both of these gessoes. I use them both, they are always sitting on my desk.I like how they make my paper feel and I love that they prevent my inks and paints from showing through onto the back of the paper.

Lately I have been using these palette knives to spread the gesso onto my paper. Easy to use and to clean up, I like them better then using a gift card.

I use two different things under my Bible pages to protect the pages underneath. This is one of them:

Bella Blvd Illustrated Faith You Rule Journaling Bible Mat

These Teflon Sheets are awesome. I cut them to fit my pages so that there is about an inch all around the page. They catch any run off . I can write perfectly when they are under my page. They are easy to clean up. It doesn’t matter if it is paint or gesso, I use a baby wipe to keep it clean.

After I put the gesso on I like to quickly dry them with this craft dryer:

I hate my handwriting but when I write in my Bible I use these pens and markers:

I love these gel pans and they take forever to use up! I have had this set for over a year and they are still going strong. None of them have dried up or anything.

Illustrated Faith – Precision Bible Pen – Value Pack

These are the best white pens ever!  I have never had an issue with them, and I love how they look on my Bible pages.

1. Books of the Bible Tabs – They get in my way and I have seen where they tear up the pages of your Bible and I don’t want that to happen to mine.

2. Mod Podge – This is a glue like product and is supposed to be used as a sealer not a base on paper. I have seen and heard horror stories about people who use it only to find it completely ruined and glues their Bibles shut. It is not worth it!
