Where life’s currents take you…
Dana Raynott just traveled 3,600 miles to reunite with the brother who changed his name and fled to Alaska nineteen years ago. It’s impossible not to be moved by this wild, breathtaking state, even if Dana’s no closer to finding the answers she came here for.
Her brother’s best friend, Anchorage engineer Sam MacKettrick, might be able to help her. He’s strong and kind—a six-foot, irresistible blend of diverse cultures. He’s also haunted by a tragic family history with a startling connection to Dana’s past…
Six Ways to Test Your Courage in Alaska
Dana Raynott, the heroine in THE ALASKA CATCH, plays it safe. She’s always done exactly what her father asked her to do, even if it wasn’t what she wanted. But after her father’s death, she travels to Alaska to find her long-lost brother and spends time with his best friend, Sam. In this new place, with Sam by her side, she discovers reserves of courage she never knew she had.
Want a challenge? Here are six ways to test your courage in Alaska.
-
Take to the skies You can even land on a river or a glacier if you choose the right plane.
-
Climb a mountain Whether you hike up Flattop, race up Mount Marathon on the Fourth of July, or scale Denali – the highest mountain in North America – it’s sure to be a challenge.
-
Brave the ocean in a sailboat, a sea kayak, or a fishing boat.
-
Take on a whitewater river in a raft or kayak.
-
Taste something different like akutaq, also know as Eskimo ice cream. It’s a blend of reindeer fat, seal oil, and wild blueberries. Or try a reindeer hotdog. Or you could always go for that perennial Alaskan favorite – Spam.
6. Fall in Love The scariest and ultimately most rewarding challenge of all.
What’s the most terrifying thing you’ve ever done on purpose?
Once upon a time …
when Beth Carpenter was a little girl, she read everything she could get her hands on, and entertained herself on the school bus by making up stories in her head. Not a lot has changed. She’s still consuming books like M&Ms, and spends her days creating happily-ever-afters for her imaginary friends.
She lives in Alaska and Arizona with her husband and an aggressively affectionate fifty-pound lap dog. She loves to hear from readers.

Such beautiful scenery in Alaska. I have always wanted to visit Alaska
for a year to experience it. I just read an article about Alaska saying how fast vegetables because of the extended light. I love reading anything I can get my hands on about Alaska and I so look forward to reading The Alaskan Catch.
The book sounds great, I can’t wait to read it.
Thanks, Deanne01 and Rita. I hope you enjoy the story. And thanks to Paulette for hosting me today.
Love the Six Ways to Test Your Courage in Alaska post! The pictures of Alaska are stunning and make me want to go there and experience everything mentioned! Thanks for this amazing giveaway – I would love to win!
