I rate this book:
Big city K-9 cop Ronan McGuire loves women, loves his dog, loves his job – but when old flame Maddy Morgan moves into his jurisdiction, he can’t think about anyone else.
Ronan knows she’s way out of his league, but he’s determined to help Maddy live life to the fullest.
Maddy has immersed herself in work and swiftly made a name for herself in the hot New York City real estate market. She’s looking for safety, not love, but Ronan McGuire is as persistent as he is sexy, and his crooked smile is hard to resist. But all other concerns are wiped away when Maddy goes missing and Ronan and his bloodhound K-9 partner are tasked with finding her and bringing her home.
After reading the first book in The McGuire Brothers series I knew I had to read this as well. Sarah Humphreys’ books are fun and entreating. They are really the perfect way to spend a hot summer day!
Maddy’s boyfriend of ten years was a firefighter and he died on the job. So she leaves and moves to NYC to escape her grief. Ronan McGuire also lives in NYC and is a K-9 cop. They grew up together and Ronan has always had feelings for her…
Now that her grieving is over Maddy is starting to see Ronan with new eyes. Life keep throwing them together so they are able to spend time together and to really get to know who they are now. But Ronan has a dangerous job. Does Maddy want to give her heart to another man who might die while serving his community?
I normally don’t read romantic suspense but this story worked so well. There was enough of both to keep me from putting it down.
*I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion. I was not paid for this post and all opinions and experiences are my own. I look forward to reading whatever Ms. Humphreys’ has for us next!
